Gonna be silent for awhile
I'm on vacation next week, so probably won't post, although who knows. If you don't care about Internet Radio, or music streaming services, you should. If you do care, then please do something about it. When I was a kid, commercial radio was cool. Then it got worse. Now, it's absolutely horrible. Pick your market--it's usually horrendous.
So here are a few of my favorite streaming sites or Internet radio stations, in no particular order.
1) Slacker.com -- New streaming site. Soon to have own player and satellite beamed service.
2) Rhapsody.com-- Owned by Real, who didn't ruin it. A perennial strong player in streaming.
3) WCPE--Public radio station in North Carolina. All classical, all good.
4) Radio Paradise--Eclectic, crunchy, aging hippie-type music...very progressive, very good.
5) SOMA FM--San Francisco-based outlet with several great stations--Groove Salad, Indie Pop Rocks.
And many many other great outlets: Radioio, KEXP Public Radio in Seattle, Minnesota Public Radio, SKY FM....most of these will likely go dark if nothing changes, Slacker and Rhapsody being the two exceptions (they're both well-funded and have made separate arrangements with the four major labels).
Peace--out.
