Sorry to say but it's indeed official. Slacker has notified via email those customers who have pre-ordered a Slacker Portable that it is delaying shipments of the devices from December 13, 2007 to January 31, 2008. I really like the service and these guys. And I'm sure this move wasn't made in haste -- far better to delay than ship a sub-par product. I'm still rooting for them, but if this slips beyond January 31st, it's really going to be difficult for them. They must get on top of their operations (and get some better PR guidance as well, or their executives need to follow the suggestions provided to them). Incidentally, Walt Mossberg gave an extremely fair and balanced (hasn't someone coined that term already?) review of the Slacker Portable in yesterday's Wall Street Journal. And that's huge. Also, might I add that their professionally programmed stations are quite good. I'm an "Adult Alternative" regular.

Why? Look at this picture from the November 23rd New York Times. He is the only candidate who doesn't look like a slob. Hillary? Forget about it. Rudy? Passable...I mean does anyone look good eating a slice? But the etiquette award goes to Obama. Ambondanza!
